We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: winter is reading season. Humans might not literally hibernate, but curling up with a book for hours during the cold weather is pretty close. Many people lament not getting enough time to read, but the winter offers plenty of opportunities to stay in with a good book.
Naturally, reading is more enjoyable when you have a comfy spot in which to do it. Reading nooks are a wonderful architectural feature of many homes and cottages—the few square feet that go into them are extremely well spent—but even if you don’t have a built-in reading spot, you can create one with a little ingenuity (and some cushions). You may find that this tiny spot is where you spend most of your time on a dreary day.
Building a nook for kids is a great way to show them the magic of reading. After all, having your own little reading hideout is exciting at any age, and kids will love the chance to have a spot just for them and their books. But why let them have all the fun? This gallery of cool, cozy, and creative book nooks might just make you consider dedicating some space in your home to a nook of your own.
