Along with cosy A-frames and vintage travel trailers, one of our favourite home design aesthetics is the modern barn. We love the peaked roofs, the huge sliding doors, and the exposed rafters. This semi-rural residence, designed by Washington-based studio Johnson Squared Architects, is a modern-day take on the classic barn house. The exterior was inspired by a Napa Valley barn, but the interiors are rife with modern details like a gourmet kitchen, radiant heat concrete flooring, and trendy lighting.
While these photos show just the main house, the whole property includes another building that contains a guest room, painter’s studio, and wood-working shop. What a stunning retreat!
