What groundhogs sound like
Seldom straying more than a quick dash from their nearest hole, groundhogs are ever wary, scanning for danger frequently even while feasting, often standing up to get a good look. If they sense trouble, their flight is often accompanied by an instinctive short, sharp whistle, like a sonic squeak that can be heard up to 300 metres away.
