A Toronto man has died after his canoe capsized on a lake just west of Algonquin Provincial Park.

According to reports, two men were canoeing on Grass Lake, near Kearney, Ontario, when their boat flipped at around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police said neither man was wearing a life jacket. While one of the two men managed to swim to shore, the other wasn’t so lucky. A 27-year-old from Toronto was found dead by the OPP underwater search and recovery unit, though his name has not yet been released.

Unfortunately, this is hardly the first incident of its kind this summer. Just weeks ago, a 59-year-old man drowned in Lake Simcoe after his canoe capsized, and in early July, another canoeing accident left two twenty-something Kingston men dead. In both incidents, the men who drowned were not wearing lifejackets.
