Watch a chubby racoon get stuck climbing into the hollow of a tree

Fat raccoons are a dime a dozen in many communities across Canada. They sup on our garbage, and as a result, swell to the size of small dogs.

While this may make them a little more intimidating, it also makes it difficult for them to scale walls, sneak under fences, and escape into a hidey-hole.

This critter, for example, got into trouble last month when it tried to wiggle its way into the hollow of a tree in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. It looks like the racoon underestimated the size of its belly, although it does manage to wriggle its way in eventually.

While it’s great to see the animal succeed, we’re not confident it’s going to have an easy time getting out. Maybe it’s time for a diet.
