Like many other young animals, grizzly bear cubs imitate the behaviour of their mothers to learn necessary survival skills. According to Katmai National Park & Preserve’s Facebook page, cubs “eat what mom eats, investigate what mom investigates, and may copy her actions around other bears.”
Without fail, this Alaskan cub copies mom’s tough attitude when another bear gets a little too close. Like any good mother the grizzly pushes her cub out of the way when things get intense, but the little guy sure does try to act intimidating.
Mother and cub do manage to scare off the invading bear, keeping their bit of Brook Falls to themselves.
