You know you’re Canadian when …

Last week Canadians from coast to coast took to Twitter to broadcast their national pride and tell the world what it means to be Canadian.

If you’re into Twitter, you may have noticed that the hashtag #youknowyourecanadianwhen began trending, which means it was one of the most popular global conversations happening on the social media site.

Since it was refreshing to have Canada in the national spotlight for reasons other than the escapades of a certain big-city mayor, we thought we’d compile some our favourite tweets from the week.

Not surprisingly, they fell into a few familiar Canadian categories, as you can see below.

As you might expect, most of the jokes centred on snow.

Most of the tweets might have touched on Canadian stereotypes, but taken as a whole, they show a deeper trend in Canadian culture. Because if there’s one thing that unites us as Canadians (aside from our love for a hot cup of Tims on a snowy winter day), it’s our sense of humour.
