Eggs are an easy and versatile food that can be served at any meal. There are hundreds of ways to cook eggs—we’ve picked out the basics that everyone should know.

A good general rule, with only a few exceptions, is to cook eggs over medium-low heat, and do not overcook.

In my experience, kids love this. Take a slice of bread and cut a hole, about 3" (7.5 cm) wide in the centre with a cookie cutter or a glass. In a pan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp (15 ml) butter. Set the bread in the pan and break an egg into the hole (the white will spread, but that’s okay). Cook until underside is lightly browned and the egg is beginning to set, about 2 minutes. Flip bread over and cook about a minute more to brown the other side.
