Tuesdays with Mitch - tales of a new puppy

November 29th, 2011

How’s Mitch? This was a question I heard a lot at the Cottage Life Show on the weekend from people who follow my Twitter and Facebook feeds. For those of you who don’t know Mitch, he’s the new golden retriever puppy that came into our house about two weeks ago. Mitch is 12 weeks old.

When Taylor died suddenly this spring, DH and I were devastated. I did not want another dog. DH did. We were negotiating. Then Dave’s aunt called to say that his cousin’s golden retrievers had had puppies. On September 8, which is DH’s birthday. He, of course, took it as a sign. And so that’s how golden retriever puppy number three came into our house.

Mitch is a good dog, as good as a 12-week-old puppy can be. And because so many cottagers share a love of dogs, perhaps I’ll share some stories with you. On Tuesdays. We’ll call the posts Tuesdays with Mitch. So what would you like to know about Mitch?

What a great story. Mitch's favourite toy is a tennis ball. He has now mastered stairs, and his favourite thing to do is climb a couple of steps with the ball in his mouth. Then he turns around and tosses the ball in the air, scampering after it as it bounces down the stairs. I can almost hear him laughing.

My Golden Gibson- birthdate Sep 7 2009. What is Mitch's favorite toy? Gibson loves -- loves his apple green horse play ball - it's called apple. Has a handle on it, so he can carry it arround. Was so cute when he was 6 mos old to see him strutting around. When Gibson was 12 wks old he had a huge bear which he would carry around - that lasted until he discoved it was stuffed and you could rip it apart.
