Flashing lights and police radar
Should we warn our fellow drivers about upcoming speed traps?
During a story meeting in Cottage Life’s editorial office this week, our discussion sidetracked into whether it’s a good idea to flash your headlights to oncoming traffic after you’ve passed a police officer’s radar on the highway. Does anybody still do that? Maybe it’s because we have more barriers to separate oncoming lanes of highway traffic, but I can’t say I’ve noticed as many tipsters during my recent drives up highways 400 and 69 to the cottage.
Shoot me now, but I suggested to the other editors that the problem with flashing your lights is speeders don’t get stopped. And then Liann pointed out that when you flash your lights, much of the oncoming traffic slows down, which is a good thing.
So what do you think: to flash or not to flash?
