2011 photo contest winners

Jon Young was “casually taking pictures” of the children holding a frog at a friend’s cottage on South Lake, Ont., when they started passing it from one kid to the next. “The frog saw an opportunity to get away and he went for it!” Jon says.

Judges' commentsWe get a ton of pictures of people with frogs, but usually the frog is just a prop. In this photo, it’s as big a character as any of the people. Crowds can be hard to photograph, but this was taken at the perfect moment when the kids have lost the frog, yet are still a very cohesive group.
