How to tie a trucker’s hitch

Use this simple knot to secure everything from car-top canoes to trailer-loads of brush

Tie a loop between the peak of the load and the second anchor point (you’ll figure it out). I use the alpine butterfly knot, because it won’t slip or tighten under pressure. Twist the rope to form a figure eight. Fold it in half and bring the outer loop back behind.
