Changes to Navigable Waters Protection Act under attack
The Canadian Rivers Network has sent out an urgent appeal to the public to write to members of the Senate about changes to the Navigable Waters Protection Act that are included in Section 7 of the Budget Implementation Act. The amendments would remove the long-standing definition of what is a navigable waterway in Canada and would give the federal government more control over approval for projects on waterways, even allowing for some to go ahead without an environmental assessment.
