Gifts for Canadians

Two covers landed on my desk recently, and I loved the images on both of them. One is the cover of Our Canada magazine, a publication that celebrates the stories of Canadians. Its cover: a photo of someone lacing up hockey skates, just in time for the new season. For me, hockey is one of winter’s bright spots!

The second is the cover of Our Canada, Picture Perfect, a new book that draws on photography submitted to Our Canada magazine by its readers. I don’t need to explain why I like that one (shown here), but what I find interesting is that of all the images representing all the regions of Canada, it was this particular one that resonated as cover material. Nice choice, don’t you think? Looking for a uniquely Canadian gift? You can order this book online.

Speaking of uniquely Canadian gifts, take a look at the beautiful “Moose and Canoe” cufflink set from Green Shag that Michelle Kelly features on her CottageStyle blog. I’m thinking of getting DH a new shirt, just so he can wear them. Or maybe I’ll look at the company’s Hockey Canada collection. Winter’s coming, after all.

I agree Debb. I want to plant myself in one of them with a good book and a cold beer! By the way, what's everybody reading these days. I'm almost, finally, finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Any suggestions for what I should pick up next?
