Concrete block planters
Concrete blocks always remind me of the cottage. I know, it sounds weird, but when I see one, I can’t help but think of the many summers that I swam off our raft, and my brothers and I always had to avoid the side with the anchor—a concrete block—when we were diving off or playing some crazy raft game (King of the Raft being a particular favourite). Of course, concrete blocks are more widely used in building construction, so if you’ve ever reno’d your cottage or added a bunkie, you likely have a few lying around at your place. If you’d like to put them to good use, why not use them as a planter?
I saw this idea over at Remodelista (one of my favourite design websites) and think it’s pure genius. Not only does it recycle something that may well be destined for the trash heap, but it also adds a more contemporary vibe to one’s decor. And did I mention that they are cheap, just in case you don’t have already on hand? High impact design for just a couple of bucks: A winning combination.
