Make a custom measuring post
Keep track of growing families with this simple post
Materials
- Eight to ten foot post
- Measuring tape
- Ruler
- Utility knife
- Painter’s tape
- Wood conditioner
- Paint brush
- Selection of stains
Step#1: Begin by applying wood conditioner to your post.
Step #2: After the wood conditioner has dried, mark off one foot sections along your post on each side.
Step #3: Apply painter’s tape to alternating sections of the post.
Step #4: Stain the alternating sections and allow to dry.
Step #5: Remove the painter’s tape and mark off the remaining sections with more painter’s tape.
Step #6: Once all the sections on the post are stained and dry, you are ready to make your measurements.
Step #7: Measure and mark off 1/2 inch increments with a pencil.
Step #8: Using a wood burner and your ruler as a guide, burn the measurements all the way up the post.
