Big Thinking for Outdoor Furniture
My all-time favourite pastime at the cottage: lounging around doing nothing. It’s amazing how many naps you can take when you have little else to do. Nap on the dock; nap on the porch; nap in the sun-filled bedroom with a cooling cross breeze playing across your back…
My dream accessory for all my napping is a nice big outdoor daybed. I had the chance to visit Miami last fall, and all around the pool of the hotel were these oversize loungers, perfect for basking in the sun in complete comfort. Perhaps a little indulgent, but what else would you call all that napping?
I like the Madison daybed module (above left) ($2,995) from Andrew Richard Designs, because it’s made of high-quality, durable materials so it stands up to sun and rain, needing very little maintenance.
If napping isn’t your thing, perhaps entertaining crowds of cottage visitors is. For that, I like the massive Tribecca sectional ($3,690, also from Andrew Richard Designs). No more people vying for the only three comfy seats, leaving everyone else with awkward, half-broken lawn chairs.
