Seen at the Spring 2009 Cottage Life show
Well, I survived my first Cottage Life show. It was a lot of work but we had tons of fun, and it was great to meet so many wonderful readers! I spent some time on Saturday walking the show and found some stylish goods to add to my shopping wish list.
Eldo Baumeister at Muskoka Jewelry, based in Parry Sound, Ontario, makes gorgeous sterling silver pieces – earrings, pendants, bracelets and more – in the shapes of canoes, paddles, Muskoka chairs, and even mosquitoes. This fishing rod (on the left), attached to the top of a small wooden box, actually works – you can reel the fish up and down!
Elmira Stove Works was showing off Northstar Retro Appliances in its booth, including this microwave ($749) and dishwasher panel ($399) in Robin’s Egg Blue (above). And this Buttercup Yellow fridge with bottom freezer ($4,195, below) is so cheery!
I found more colour over at the Cottage Chic booth in the form of this sweet magazine-rack table ($299).
I thought this this circa 1880 pine extension table from Nova Scotia would be ideal for the cottage. The table has six leaves and extends from 4′ up to 9 1/2′ – large enough for those big dinners when everyone and their brother comes up for a visit, but smaller when you need it to be. Found in the Pollikers booth. (Greenwood, Ont., (905) 427-4498)
Also spotted at Pollikers were these antique wooden decoys (from approx. $75-$110 each), including a big Canada goose from PEI ($450).
And for all those fun cottage photos, rustic frames made of recycled barn board ($25 each), from City and North Custom Design.
